Holiday Inn Opens Doors for Orange & Blue Debut Game

On April 7, 2012, The Orange & Blue Debut – the University of Florida’s first opportunity to showcase the next season’s football team to the local community – scrimmaged between the team’s own Blue and Orange Squad.

Typically the Orange and Blue Debut occurs on the first Saturday of April and gives avid Gator fans a taste of the Fall Season ahead.

As with any home football event, the Holiday Inn University Center‘s prime location with respect to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka “The Swamp”) is quite appealing to any out-of-town visitor.

The noon-time game and off-season draw is never as large as any of the in-season home games at the hotel. A great majority of this game’s attendees are locals, so the Holiday Inn rarely sells out for this event alone.

However, inside the hotel’s building entrance, Beef O’ Brady’s Restaurant and Lounge was the life of the party that day.

In prior years, the hotel sponsors corn toss tournament on the rooftop pooldeck area for locals to gather and enjoy before entering UF’s games.
